Best Pathfinder 2e GM Tools for Foundry VTT: Encounters, Monsters and XP (v14)
Last updated October 12, 2026
Last checked: October 2026 · Verified for Foundry v14 · System: Pathfinder 2e
Running Pathfinder 2e means a lot of GM bookkeeping: XP budgets, creature stats that scale by level, what happens in the ten minutes after a fight, and what the party actually knows about a monster. These modules take that work off your plate. Every pick is listed on FoundryMods as verified for Foundry v14. Notes on the current pf2e 8.6 system are below each module and in the version table.

1. GM Screen
▶ Watch on Baileywiki: “GM Screen” in The Top 5 Quality of Life Modules for Running… (9:50)
A configurable grid that works like a real GM screen. Drag in journal entries (even ones inside compendiums), roll tables, actors, and items; draw from tables, roll NPC attacks, and pop any entry out to its full sheet. You can resize each cell. It works in any system and is verified for Foundry v14.
2. PF2e Encounter Builder
A GM tool for planning and balancing encounters with the XP budget. It reads your active player-owned characters to work out party level and size, lets you choose average, highest, or a manual party level, adjust party size for absent players, and shows all five difficulty tiers (Trivial to Extreme) at once. It's new and small on FoundryMods, so treat it as one to try.
3. PF2E Monster Maker
Builds combat NPCs from scratch using the values in the Pathfinder 2e creature-building rules. Create a blank NPC, open its sheet, and use the Monster Maker button at the top. The author notes that DCs and special abilities won't scale on a sheet that isn't blank. Roadmaps can set values for a given creature type automatically.
4. pF2e See Simple Scale Statistics
Adds a button to NPC sheets that recolors each important statistic by where it sits on the Terrible–Low–Moderate–High–Extreme scale. The author suggests it for answering Recall Knowledge checks, getting a quick read on how a creature is meant to be played, and homebrewing.
5. pf2e award xp
Opens an XP award dialog automatically after combat. Awarding XP posts a chat card and updates the combatants' XP. You can also open the dialog with the /award chat command.
6. Monk's PF2e Encounter Aftermath
Bridges the gap between an encounter and exploration. Your party is out of combat rounds but still needs to track the time spent on post-fight tasks. The module adds a new tab to the Party sheet for this.
7. PF2e Subsystems
Adds a Subsystem view for setting up and playing through the system's subsystems, such as Chases and Influence. Requires PF2e Subsystem Theming, which Foundry can install for you as a dependency.
8. PF2E Bestiary Tracking
Adds a Bestiary that both the GM and players can open. You add creatures to it and reveal information about them as the party learns more during play. Requires PF2e Subsystem Theming, the same shared theme library PF2e Subsystems uses.

Left out: PF2e GM Screen and PF2E Loot Generator have no Foundry compatibility data on FoundryMods, so we can't confirm they work on v14. Use GM Screen above instead of a PF2e-specific screen.
Two general GM helpers
- Ownership Viewer shows who can see each actor, item, and journal page, so the clue you just shared really is visible. ▶ “Ownership Viewer” (7:52)
- Find the Culprit! finds the module that broke something, using an automated binary search. ▶ “Honorable Mention: Find the Culprit!” (2:10)

Frequently asked questions
How do I build a balanced Pathfinder 2e encounter in Foundry?
PF2e Encounter Builder works out your party's level and size from the player-owned characters and shows the XP budget for every difficulty tier at once. For custom monsters, PF2E Monster Maker uses the creature-building rules.
How do I award XP in Pathfinder 2e on Foundry?
pf2e award xp opens an XP award dialog after combat, or when you type /award in chat. It posts a chat card and updates the combatants' XP.
Why does PF2e Subsystems ask me to install another module?
PF2e Subsystems and PF2E Bestiary Tracking both require PF2e Subsystem Theming, a shared theme library. Let Foundry install it as a dependency.
Are these GM tools compatible with pf2e 8.6?
They're all verified for Foundry v14, which pf2e 8.6 requires. Several declare an older verified pf2e version with no maximum, so test them in a copy of your world first. The version table on this page lists each one.
Is there a GM screen module for Pathfinder 2e?
GM Screen works in any system, including pf2e, and is verified for Foundry v14. The PF2e-specific GM screen module on FoundryMods has no compatibility data, so we don't recommend it yet.
