Best Pathfinder 2e Combat Automation Modules for Foundry VTT (v14)
Last updated October 12, 2026
Last checked: October 2026 · Verified for Foundry v14 · System: Pathfinder 2e
The Pathfinder 2e system for Foundry already automates much of the rules on its own. These modules fill the gaps that are left: applying effects when a target fails a save, tracking reloads and ammunition, adding item activations when you equip something, applying effects straight from chat, and playing animations for attacks and spells. Every pick is listed on FoundryMods as verified for Foundry v14.
⚠ pf2e 8.6 note (October 2026): the current pf2e system (8.6.0) requires Foundry v14. Several modules below declare an older verified pf2e version (for example 8.0.2) with no maximum. FoundryMods has no reports of breakage, but test them in a copy of your world before game night. Each one's status is listed in the version table below.

1. PF2e Assistant
Billed by its author as "your personal assistant for your Pathfinder 2nd Edition games", it helps automate various things that aren't automated by the game system. It requires libWrapper and declares pf2e 8.1.2 or later. Read its settings and turn on only the automations you want.
2. PF2e Automations
Automates actions, feats, and spells by applying effects and conditions automatically when a target fails a saving throw, on critical specialization, or when a spell is cast. After installing it, press its Sync Rules button to apply its rules to the system. Its scope overlaps with PF2e Assistant, so enable one, play a session, then decide whether you want both. It's verified against pf2e 8.0.2, so test it on 8.6.
3. PF2e Ranged Combat
Improves automation for ranged combat: macros for reloading that apply a "Loaded" effect (removed when you fire), automation for Crossbow Ace and Crossbow Crack Shot, an option to block firing an unloaded reloadable weapon, and an optional advanced system that tracks which ammunition is loaded and removes it from your inventory. Requires libWrapper and Library: Item Select Dialog.
4. PF2e Item Activations
Adds an item's activations to your inventory when you meet its requirements (for example, by equipping it), and automatically adds spells and their entries for a select list of items. This means fewer "wait, my boots can do that?" moments.
5. PF2e Ctrl Click Effects
Ctrl-click (⌘-click on Mac) an effect or condition link in chat to apply it to the selected tokens. It's a small change that makes the system's own chat links much faster to use at the table.
6. PF2e Animation Macros

A collection of animation macros for the PF2e system. It automatically creates attack animations and applies effects using Automated Animations, summons creatures for you, and all of its animations are customizable. Requires Sequencer and Automated Animations, plus an animation asset pack such as JB2A – Free Content. (Our videos show the animation stack in D&D 5e; the setup is the same idea.)

Left out: PF2e Usage Updater declares pf2e 6.5.0 as its last verified version, far behind 8.6, so we can't recommend it on v14 yet.

Which PF2e automation modules work with pf2e 8.6 and Foundry v14?
Everything on this page is listed on FoundryMods as verified for Foundry v14. PF2e Assistant, Item Activations, and Animation Macros declare pf2e ranges that include 8.6. Others are verified on older pf2e versions with no maximum, so test them first.
Why isn't PF2e Automations working after I installed it?
Its author says you need to press its Sync Rules button after installing, so the module's rules are applied to the system.
What do I need for PF2e attack animations?
PF2e Animation Macros requires Sequencer and Automated Animations, plus an animation asset pack such as JB2A.
Can I use PF2e Assistant and PF2e Automations together?
