Dretches, one of the weakest demons, are repulsive, self-hating creatures doomed to eternal disappointment. Low intelligence allows Dretches to execute only the simplest orders. However, they compensate for the lack of potential with malice. The Dretches crowd around, expressing their displeasure with anxious chatter and grumbling. The souls of evil beings who enter the Lower Planes turn into Manes, the lowest form of demons. These pitiful fiends attack everyone except demons, and they are called to the Material Plane by those who want to sow death and chaos. Quasits live on the Lower Planes. Physically weak, they keep in the shadows to plot and lie. More powerful demons use quasits for mail transfers and espionage when they are not devouring them and tearing them apart to pass the time.
